  • This five-week mindfulness program teaches mindfulness skills integrated with cognitive behaviour therapy principles to help you break your negative thought patterns, increase your concentration, and better manage your emotions.

    The mindfulness group program will:

    • Provide an understanding of mindfulness and its benefits
    • Provide tools to help increase focus towards your goals, better understand the patterns of your mind, and manage negative thoughts and feelings
    • Introduce various mindfulness techniques
    • Provide handouts for your reference
    • Include between-session mindfulness practice exercises

    General information:

    • Age: 18 years and above
    • Dates: Currently scheduled for October and November of 2024
    • Length: 5 x 90-minute weekly group sessions
    • Location: UNSW Psychology Clinic, Mathews Building, Level 8, UNSW, Kensington, NSW (sessions recorded for training purposes).
    • Fee: $100 ($50 for concession card holders)
    • Attendance at all 5 sessions is required
    • All levels of experience welcome
    • The program will be led by Provisional Psychologists under the supervision of Clinical Psychologists

  • This six-week group program is a Behavioural Family Intervention Program for parents/carers that aims to reduce problem behaviours by focusing on:

    • Improving parent-child relationships through the use of play and other positive activities
    • Effectiveness of praise & rewards when reinforcing appropriate behaviour
    • Effectiveness of instructions when setting necessary limits on behaviour
    • Use of preventative strategies that limit the causes of misbehaviour
    • Consistency and type of responses to misbehaviour

    General information:

    • For parents/carers of 5-12 year old children (children DO NOT attend the program) 
    • Dates: Currently scheduled for October and November of 2024
    • Length: 6 x 2 hr weekly group sessions
    • Location: In-person at UNSW Psychology Clinic, Mathews Building, Level 8, UNSW, Kensington, NSW (sessions recorded for training purposes).
    • Fee: $100 ($50 for concession card holders)
    • Attendance at all 6 sessions is required
    • The program will be led by Provisional Psychologists under the supervision of Clinical Psychologists

  • This evidenced-based 6-week group program helps adults learn ways to strengthen memory through practical skills.

    The program is based on the principles of education, strategy training, practise and generalisation to everyday life.

    You will learn:

    • how memory works and what effects it
    • practical and effective strategies which have been shown to enhance memory capacity
    • how lifestyle changes can optimise your brain health

    General Information:

    • Ages: 18 years and above
    • Group Day & Time: Fridays 9.30am - 11.30am
    • Dates: Next group dates TBC
    • Length: 6 x 2-hour sessions
    • Location: Psychology Clinic, Level 8 Mathews Building, UNSW, Kensington Campus
    • Fee: $80 ($20 for assessment; $60 for 6-session group program)
    • All individuals will be assessed for the suitability to participate in the group program.
    • The groups will be led by Provisional Psychologists under supervision by a senior Clinical Neuropsychologist.

  • The Hoarding Treatment Group is a 20-session evidence-based group program that helps individuals improve their decision-making about possessions, address the excessive clutter in their homes, and learn skills to better manage their emotions and interpersonal relationships.

    The program teaches step-by-step practical skills proven to be effective for addressing the anxiety and sadness commonly associated with hoarding difficulties and improving ability to reduce clutter.


    General Information:

    • Ages: 18 years or above
    • Length: 20 x 2-hour group sessions
    • Dates: Next group dates TBC
    • Cost: $80 for the 20-session program payable prior to first session
    • Location: UNSW Psychology Clinic, Level 8 Mathews Building, UNSW Sydney, Kensington Campus
    • All individuals will need to complete a brief phone intake interview and attend an in-person individual assessment (provided FREE) prior to the start date. This assessment determines whether the group is likely to be helpful for them.
    • The groups will be led by Provisional Psychologists under the supervision of senior Clinical Psychologists.

  • The Capable Kids Group aims to enhance and strengthen social skills, including communication, co-operation and problem-solving.

    The group program uses techniques that have been shown to be effective in improving children’s social skills.

    It helps children learn and practice effective ways of interacting with others and helps parents support and encourage the development of these skills in their children.

    General Information:

    • Ages: 7-12 years
    • Group Day & Time: Tuesdays 4pm - 6pm
    • Dates: Next group dates TBC
    • Length: 6 x 2-hour sessions
    • Location: Psychology Clinic, Level 8 Mathews Building, UNSW, Kensington Campus
    • Fee: $200($40 for assessment; $160 for 6-session group program)
    • All children referred will be assessed for the suitability to participate in the group program.
    • The program uses family based cognitive-behavioural interventions which have been shown to be effective in reducing anxiety and problems with social skills. Parent participation in the group sessions is important so that parents can learn how to best support their children’s new skills.
    • The groups will be led by Provisional Psychologists under supervision by senior Clinical Psychologists.
